Permian & Delaware Basin

Well Pad Sites and Production Facilities

Scope of work included: Integration, I & E Installation & Commissioning of Well Pad and Tank Battery Sites. Installation & Commissioning of O2 Analyzers on 62 sites. Installation & Commissioning of ABB Total Flow Computers on 35 sites. General Automation responsibilities included.

Equipment included:

Total Flow Computers, Emerson Micro Motion Coriolis Meters, OleumTech Wireless Transmitters, Allen Bradley PLC and Local HMI, Ubiquity Communication Equipment. Emerson Radar Gauges, Emerson Pressure Transmitters, Siemens Tank Gauges, ABB Tank Gauges, Pneumatic Controllers, Siemens I-P Controllers, Fisher I-P Controllers, ROC 800 RTUs/Controllers, Foxboro Level Transmitters, Viatran Level Transmitters.

Ethane Cracker Facility Fire & Gas System

AIS provided fire & gas detection service support for a large chemical manufacture in the Westlake, LA area. Support was comprised of repairing 80 fire detection systems and, 12 fixed suppression systems and 125 fixed gas detectors. After a five month process of repair all systems were back up and functioning 100%. 

Equipment Included: Fire Alarm - Notifier, FCI, Kidde, Simplex and Mircom / Suppression Systems - Kidde / Gas Detection - Honeywell, Drager, Det-tronics.

MCC Building & 9 Well Control Panel

  

AIS provided the design, fabrication, integration and commissioning for client's Power and Control Building for the Kitchen Lights Unit Project located offshore in Alaska’s Cook Inlet. Building was outfitted with Platform PLC System Panel, ESD Panel, Fire/Gas Panel, PA/GA, Radio Communication System, UPS System, Lighting and Power Distribution, 480V Motor Control Center and 480V Generator Control & Switchgear Panels. 

AIS also provided design, fabrication and FAT for a 9 Well Control Panel for client’s Kitchen Lights Unit offshore production platform located in Alaska’s Cook Inlet.

Well/Process Control System & Chemical Injection Skid

  

Provided automation solutions for the platform system; the platform is a 4 pile structure with a heliport that included 3 gas-lift wells, header system, and process equipment. AIS was responsible for the design and fabrication of the chemical injections skid, Well/Process Control Panel, and Power Distribution. All programming was performed internally at AIS. 

Additionally, AIS was responsible for platform I & E installation to include lighting, electrical, and instrumentation components. The primary control system was an Allen Bradley Control Logix PLC with a Panel view Display for local operation. This system was powered with a DC distribution consisting of batteries, solar panels, wind turbines, and a backup generator. The equipment will offer customer the capabilities to operate wells and process equipment remotely. 

A nearby facility will be home to a SCADA server running GE’s iFix software. All software programming for the SCADA system was provided by AIS. A full set of CAD drawings developed by AIS was provided to the customer at completion of the project. 

12 Stage Compressor Station

  

The compressor station consisted of 12 gas engine driven compressors, Incoming and Departing pipelines, Slug Catcher Vessels, Incoming Gas Filter Separators and Dual Glycol Systems. Our scope of supply included the following items:

  • Electrical power, lighting and Grounding Grid system design and procurement of all bulk material. This included the main incoming power of 400amps, 240vac, single phase, Stand-By generator with Automatic Transfer Switch, complete site Tray layouts, Lighting layouts, Cable Schedules, Motor Power layouts, etc. Grounding Grid consisted of Buried cables, ground rods and tails to all equipment/components to facilitate continuity between all devices.
  • Instrumentation system design and procurement of all bulk material. This scope included the control system power design, junction/marshaling box design, interconnecting cable layouts, cable schedules, Instrument Data and Cause and Effect Matrix development.
  • PLC Control system design, fabrication and shop testing. The PLC system design utilized an Allen Bradley Control Logix processor and I/O cards in a centrally located panel in the MCC building with touchscreens located in MCC and inside the compressor building for operator interface. Custom programming included the ability to open/close SDV’s, bypassing of instruments for testing, data logging for operations, custom PID loops for pressure and level control and display of compressor panel data on system touch screens.
  • Fire and Gas system design and procurement. The site Fire and Gas system consisted of 24 – LEL Gas Detectors located in the Compressor building, 1 – LEL Gas Detector located in the Stand by Generator and 8 – UV/IR Detectors located in the Compressor building.
  • MCC Building design, fabrication and testing. MCC was fabricated using an 8’ x 40’ x 9’-6” Hi-Cube shipping container. Main door was removed and sealed over and a HVAC system was installed for heating and cooling MCC building. All incoming power terminated into this building, all distribution panels were located interior of this building, all starters for motors were located in this building and the Main PLC System panel was located internal to this building. 

Control and Power Building Modules

 AIS provided the design, fabrication, integration and FAT for client's Land Base Central Processing Facility Power, Control and Lobby Building Modules which will be located in Nikiski, Alaska Kenai Peninsula Borough of Alaska. Control Building was outfitted with ESS PLC Panel, PCS PLC Panel, Fire/Gas Panel, PA/GA Panel, and UPS System. Power Building was outfitted with 480V Motor Control Center, ATS Panel, Lighting and Power Distribution Panels.
